Position Summary:
Carlton Farms is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Supervisor to oversee and manage the food safety and quality assurance programs. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of our products through the development, implementation, and monitoring of food safety programs, including HACCP, GMPs, and USDA regulations. Additionally, this role requires cross-functional collaboration with departments such as Sales, Logistics, R&D, and direct communication with customers to address quality concerns and ensure compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Safety & Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's HACCP plan and other food safety protocols.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with USDA regulations and GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Conduct regular internal audits to ensure adherence to food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact during USDA and third-party audits, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, regulations, and emerging risks related to food safety and quality.
- Quality Assurance & Control:
- Establish and oversee the Quality Assurance program, ensuring that products meet both company and customer specifications for safety and quality.
- Implement procedures for monitoring and testing products throughout the production process.
- Investigate and resolve product non-conformities, customer complaints, and quality issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Provide leadership and training to staff regarding food safety, quality control, and best practices.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Sales, Logistics, and R&D teams to ensure product quality meets customer expectations.
- Communicate directly with customers to resolve quality-related issues and ensure satisfaction.
- Collaborate with Logistics to ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of products, minimizing risks related to quality and safety.
- Support R&D in the development of new products, ensuring that all new formulations and processes comply with food safety regulations and quality standards.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of quality assurance activities, audit findings, corrective actions, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare and present reports on food safety, compliance, and quality performance to management.
- Ensure all documentation meets USDA and other regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field; equivalent experience in quality assurance/food safety in the meat processing industry may be considered.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance within the food industry.
- Certification in HACCP and SQF (Safe Quality Food) or other food safety standards.
- In-depth knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and USDA food safety regulations.
- Strong understanding of quality control processes and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with various departments and communicate effectively with customers and regulatory bodies.
- Experience in audit preparation and the ability to lead and manage third-party audits.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with meat or poultry products.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
