Carlton Fields is seeking a Legal Project Management Analyst. This position can be based in Atlanta, Hartford, Miami, New York, Orlando, Tampa, Washington, DC, or West Palm Beach office.
This position is a key contributor to the Firm’s Legal Project Management and Client Service Standard strategic objectives. You will work closely with the Director of Legal Project and Practice Management as you support individual attorneys, client teams and practice groups in the delivery of services for complex, high profile, and significant client engagements employing LPM methodology and tools.

This position is a key contributor to the Firm’s Legal Project Management and Client Service Standard strategic objectives. You will work closely with the Director of Legal Project and Practice Management as you support individual attorneys, client teams and practice groups in the delivery of services for complex, high profile, and significant client engagements employing LPM methodology and tools.
Duties
- Actively assist in the management of scoping, planning, pricing, and delivering legal services throughout the lifecycle of individual engagements.
- Support development of legal expense budgets with clearly defined scope, staffing, milestones, assumptions, risks, and potential alternate legal fee arrangements.
- Monitor actual to budget performance to ensure key stakeholders are aware of any scope changes to proactively address deviation from plan.
- Develop and implement staffing and budget templates that can be used as the basis for efficient development and evaluation of alternative fee arrangements and for recurring projects. Evaluate the profitability and reliability of these templates to enhance future planning and profitability.
- Provide subject matter expertise in support of client guideline, billing, and legal expense coding requirements.
- Assist in development and implementation of LPM tools, resources, training, and technology.
- Conduct after-action reviews to gather relevant intelligence for use in future pricing and budgets.
- Provide data analytic support for new business intake, billing, budgeting, alternate fees, and rate management.
- Maintain data related to client and matter level engagement agreements.
- Monitor and analyze management reports to develop recommendations for appropriate action.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate requests for, or produce, ad hoc analyses required by the Department Heads or Practice Group Leaders.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 3 plus years of relevant experience and a solid track record of success, preferably in a professional services environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong ability to compile and analyze data and develop concise reporting.
- Excellent facilitation skills for leading meetings and briefings.
- Proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel capabilities. Experience with large data sets and pivot tables preferred.
- Experience with legal time and billing systems and client e-billing systems.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Established knowledge of the legal, financial, and business environments.
- Able to work independently as a sole contributor, with senior management in the Firm, and as part of cross functional teams.
- Highly motivated, energetic, and proactive with the ability to manage a variety of projects.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technology, tools, and platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree required. JD and/or formal project management qualifications preferred.
