What are the responsibilities and job description for the Long Term Substitute Reading Teacher (Grade 7) position at Carlynton School District?
The Carlynton School District is accepting applications for a Long-Term Substitute Reading Teacher Grade 7. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to diagnose, instruct, motivate, discipline, and evaluate student performance in the area of reading.
Start Date: January 16, 2025
End Date: June 6, 2025
Compensation: $41,998.00 -$43,028.00 contingent upon degree.
Performance Responsibilities and Criteria:
1. Design and implement instructional plans for the pupil group or assigned groups.
2. Provide a structured, organized and positive learning environment
3. Adapt educational activities to meet the needs of the individual student
4. Set goals and tasks for pupils so that objectives for learning may be achieved.
5. Appraise the classroom learning situation regularly and systematically, making changes as necessary.
6. Record and document pupils’ progress and work.
7. Collaborate and coordinate with other educational professionals and para-professionals to accomplish the goals of the program.
8. Communicate and confer with parents of pupils, as needed.
9. Set authority and behavioral limits which guide pupils’ activities and behaviors.
10. Anticipate emergencies and prevents problems in areas of responsibility.
11. Demonstrate familiarity with and ability to use a variety of educational materials and activities.
12. Appraise own performance, lesson execution and outcomes, as well as pupil progress.
13. Act as a resource to parents providing educational materials and strategies to help their child.
14. Collaborate and coordinate with other educational professionals and para-professionals to provide a positive and integrated educational environment.

Qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania Teaching English Certification (7-12) with a Reading Specialist certificate.
- Masters Degree in Education
- Knowledge of individualized diagnostic teaching methods
