Overview:
The Ice Technician/Maintenance Lead plays a vital role in maintaining the Zotec Partners Carmel Ice Skadium and affiliated facilities. This position combines technical expertise in ice maintenance with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high-quality ice, operational efficiency, and adherence to safety protocols. The role includes managing ice resurfacing equipment, overseeing general maintenance, and providing exceptional customer service.
Essential Contributions:
· Customer Service: Deliver a safe, clean, and efficient facility to ensure an excellent guest experience.
· Ice Maintenance: Resurface ice using a Zamboni, perform surface repairs, build ice depths, and clean glass, benches, penalty boxes, and decals.
· Equipment Maintenance: Safely operate and maintain ice resurfacing equipment. Inspect, repair, and maintain hockey goals, nets, and other on-ice equipment. Address issues with ice resurfacing machines as needed.
· General Maintenance: Conduct repairs to the board system, locker rooms, and other facility areas. Maintain and document all facility systems.
· Staff Leadership: Manage and train ice personnel. Evaluate staff performance, address deficiencies, and ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
· Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, adhere to OSHA standards, and monitor air quality to ensure regulatory compliance.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities.
· Facility Monitoring: Conduct regular inspections of rink systems to confirm all components meet safety standards. Supervise employees during ice maintenance and repairs.
· Special Assignments: Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements:
· A team-oriented mindset and desire to contribute.
· Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and availability for emergency on-call duties.
· High School Diploma or GED; a bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
· Experience operating ice resurfacing equipment, floor scrubbers, and scissor lifts is preferred.
· CIT (Certified Ice Technician) certification is preferred.
· Strong customer service skills and experience working with the public.
· Familiarity with ice sports and affiliated associations is a plus.
· General maintenance and housekeeping experience.
· Strong mechanical and organizational skills.
· Commitment to prioritizing safety and following local and state regulations.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Problem-solving skills and a hands-on management approach.
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.
· Knowledge of ice installation, preparation, and maintenance is preferred.
· Supervisory skills are an advantage.
