Job Responsibilities:
The Production Labor Specialist is responsible for performing general plant labor and clean up of production areas, observing and reporting any conditions that could lead to product nonconformity or other irregularity, being trained in various entry-level production positions and filling in as needed during vacation, absences, and increased production demands, performing kiln outage work including refractory, reporting equipment problems identified to management, completing equipment pre-shift report if applicable, cleaning work areas, shoveling stone from around conveyors, maintaining bathroom facilities, removing and installing kiln refractory, operating small front-end loader, replacing or assisting other workers as needed or directed, and other duties assigned by management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need a High School Diploma or GED, willingness to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends, ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals, ability to write routine reports and correspondence, ability to speak effectively with other employees, math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form, and physical demands to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, and lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment:
You will frequently work near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, in outside weather conditions, and with explosives. You will also be exposed to wet and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, petroleum products, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
