Farmstand Sales Associate

The Farm Stand Sales Associate is a multi-faceted role that includes providing excellent customer service to our guests, serving food and beverages, selling local produce and other farm products, and telling the story of Carnation Farms.

The ideal candidate is someone who loves interacting with customers and has a passion for creating an incredible guest experience. Responsibilities include staying up to date on product features, addressing customer questions and needs, and maintaining the farm stands visual appearance. We’re looking for someone who has a strong sense of curiosity and is enthusiastic and personable.

The current schedule for this role is:

Thursdays from 8:30am to 5:00pm

Fridays from 10:30am to 7:00pm

Sundays from 10:30am to 7:00pm

There could be occasional opportunities for additional shifts

Responsibilities and Expectations:

· Ensure an exceptional guest experience by providing outstanding customer service

· Welcome guests to the Farm Stand and answer their questions

· Assess guest needs and provide assistance and information on product features

· Follow and achieve the Farm Stand’s monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals

· Maintain food service areas and ensure product display areas are clean, in-stock, and presentable

· Input inventory into Square

· Sweep, dust, wipe down surfaces, and wash dishes as necessary

· Accurate and precise cash handling and abide by Carnation Farms' protocols for good cash handling

· Operate point of sale system for all transactions

· Serve beverages and food to customers

· Make and serve a variety of coffee beverages

Required Qualifications:

• Follows direction with positive attitude and attention to detail

• At least 1 year of retail experience, preferably in a farm stand or other related context

• Prior food service experience desired

• Bonus - Interest in and/or knowledge of local food systems and issues

• Comfortable with handling money and cashier responsibilities

• Strong communication skills including the ability to provide excellent customer service, tactfully address customer complaints

• Positive, motivated and creative attitude, strong work ethic, reliable

• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors; must be able to stand or walk on both hard surfaces as well as uneven ground in farm fields

• Ability to use computer spreadsheets, word processing systems and electronic communications

• Must enjoy working in a busy environment and be able to juggle many tasks

• Ability to work with minimal supervision

• Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:

• Valid driver’s license

• Food Handler permit

• MAST alcohol server permit (or ability to obtain within first 30 days of employment)

The expected Compensation Range for this role is $18.50 to $21.00 per hour, based on experience.
