Job Summary: Seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented candidate to join Bibliographic Services - Receiving at the Library Support Center. This role works in the Processing unit of the Technical Services Department to receive and process new library materials for circulation and special programs. This candidate should be committed to providing a high level of both internal and external customer service, and possess strong collaboration skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Location: Library Support Center, Pittsburgh, PA.

Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Compensation: $14.25 per hour

Unit: This position is represented by the United Steelworkers union.
Education & Physical Requirements:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.;
- Six or more months of related experience.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities & Experience:
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn library database software and Microsoft 365;
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently;
- Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and work quickly and with great accuracy;
- Strong attention to detail essential;
- Good oral and written communication skills.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Receiving materials including unloading, unpacking, sorting, and shelving boxed shipments and managing accompanying paperwork;
- Processing all formats of cataloged materials through labeling physical items and entering item data into the database;
- Loading and unloading book trucks, tote bins, and shelves;
- Performing specialty processing to specific materials such as laminating or repackaging;
- Maintaining appropriate inventory and organization of supplies at work station and common areas;
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
- Must have the physical ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for long periods of time, and to bend, stoop, climb, crouch, kneel, reach, and other such activity frequently or as needed.
- Physical ability to lift, move, and carry loads up to 40 pounds, and push and pull heavy book trucks (50 pounds).
- Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts, which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as public spaces, offices or meeting rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls.
Clearance Requirements:
- PA State Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Fingerprint Criminal Records Check and Mandated Reporter Training upon offer of employment.
