Hiring Supervisor: Laura Perrier, Library Services Manager-Materials Movement
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervises staff and actively performs the physical sorting of various materials of different size, shape and weight at the Library Support Center;
- Plans, organizes, schedules, supervises, and directs the work of staff, helps resolve complex problems;
- Works with the Library Services Manager – Materials Movement to ensure system-wide adoption of CLP Service Standards and related policies;
- Promotes a culture of positivity and collaboration among the department, ensuring patron needs are met through the efficient flow of materials;
- Maintains and analyzes daily, weekly, and monthly statistics for the department;
- Prepares and submits other monthly and annual reports as necessary;
- Manually sorts library materials from incoming bins to hampers and from hampers to outgoing bins;
- Safely and efficiently operates automated sorting machine;
- Moves stacks of bins using a hand truck while exercising proper safety precautions;
- Participates in system-wide activities, such as committees, teams and work groups, as directed by the Library Services Manager – Materials Movement;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required;
- Two years of related experience; prior warehouse or material handling experience preferred;
- Previous supervisory experience; ability to train, develop, and provide guidance and technical support to staff;
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to plan and think big picture about departmental and community needs;
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, walk, stand, lift and carry for prolonged periods of time;
- Physical ability to effectively, efficiently and repeatedly perform all related duties;
- Physical ability to perform regular strenuous effort including the handling of heavy bins, boxes, and/or materials of up to 60 pounds, and stacks of said materials weighing in excess of 150 pounds safely moved using a hand truck or flatbed hand truck;
- Ability to demonstrate and follow safe lifting and material handling techniques;
- Ability to understand and follow CLP’s policies and procedures along with union contract provisions;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

- PA Child Abuse History Clearance,
- Pre-Employment Physical required upon offer of employment.
