Carnegie Mellon University is hiring: Library Inventory Assistants (Temporary)

Carnegie Mellon University is seeking Library Inventory Assistants (Temporary) to support a major inventory project at Hunt Library. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy hands-on work in an academic setting.

Your core responsibilities will include :

Process and pack selected books on carts for transport between various floors within Hunt Library.

Prepare, pack, and ship selected books to designated locations.

Edit item records in the Alma online catalog system.

Load and unload book carts and shelve items accordingly.

Operate the elevator safely and efficiently to assist with book transport.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support the project.

You should demonstrate :

Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Capacity to lift and move boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.

Tolerance for working in dusty conditions and climate-controlled areas.

Strong attention to detail and basic computer skills.

Physical ability to bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks required for shelving and retrieving items.

Willingness to engage in manual labor and handle repetitive tasks with care and efficiency.

Qualifications :

High School Diploma or equivalent experience.

Requirements :

Successful completion of a background check.

Additional Information :

Typical Work Schedule : Monday-Friday from 8 : 00 am-4 : 00 pm or 8 : 30 am-4 : 30 pm.

Work Posture : This position requires an onsite in-office presence 5 days a week.
