The Language Technologies Institute (LTI) at Carnegie Mellon University is a world-renowned research and education hub at the forefront of natural language processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction. Established within the School of Computer Science, LTI pioneers innovative approaches to understanding, processing, and generating human language in both written and spoken forms.

Our team is looking to hire a Data Science Course Developer. This position designs, develops, tests and maintains curriculum materials, software applications and systems programs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains technical documentation and teaching materials pertaining to Data Science.
  • Works on more diverse and complex programming assignments that require advanced knowledge
  • Evaluates user requests to determine feasibility, cost and time requirements and system compatibility.
  • Develops specifications based on user and system requirements.
  • May guide or train lower level staff.
  • Participates on departmental and cross functional project teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of operating systems administrative experience
  • Experience in designing coursework and/or teaching is required
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLM) (prompt development, pretraining, finetuning, and RLHF)
  • Experience in software development
  • Model Deployment on Cloud platforms such as AWS
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
