Carnegie Mellon University’s Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry is seeking a Financial Associate to serve as our lead financial staff member. Reporting to the STUDIO's Associate Director and working closely with the Director and Programming Manager, this individual will be responsible for all day-to-day financial and human resources (HR) operations.
The STUDIO is a venue, classroom, commons, and laboratory for atypical, transdisciplinary, and inter-institutional research at the intersections of arts, science, technology, and culture.
The responsibilities of this role are as varied as the programming and projects the STUDIO supports. We are looking for a colleague who approaches the evolving needs of creative research with collaboration, efficiency, and curiosity.

Key Responsibilities:
Supports the operations of the STUDIO for Creative Inquiry primarily in the areas of human resources and finance.
Processes purchases, payments, and reimbursements for all STUDIO creative researchers—including students, staff, faculty, and invited artists/scholars.
Develops budgets and internal financial reporting and related business analysis.
Tracks all STUDIO stewarded funds and grants in real time in collaboration with the Director, Programming Manager and Associate Director.
Serves as a resource and advisor to supported researchers on matters of CMU policy and financial processes.
Communicates regularly with campus partners across departments, schools, and colleges to uphold CMU policies and support the STUDIO’s mission.
Stewards the resolution of atypical financial and HR processes as they serve creative research.
Administers policies and procedures and/or establishes policies and procedures for STUDIO operations.
Administrates and tracks payments to invited guests, service providers and outside vendors.
Works with the CFA Dean’s Office to assist in their fiscal year reporting but not directly responsible for producing the report.
Responsible for processing reimbursements and receipts.
Shares responsibility for booking guest travel with the Programming Manager.
May be asked to assist in supporting STUDIO events and provide event support.

Required Skills:
Proficient at using spreadsheet software Excel and/or Google Sheets
Advanced user of shared cloud based documents for real time collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders. Note: The STUDIO uses Google Drive
