In addition, they are using their expertise in interdisciplinary research centers across the university.
The Mechanical Engineering Department is seeking a Technical Project Manager to support research labs at CMU in developing implantable cell-based bioelectronic devices capable of producing therapeutics and detecting disease-related biomarkers. This role involves both technical and administrative responsibilities, including working with PhD students and postdocs on project-related equipment and systems such as 3D printing, constructing cellular compartments, designing experimental setups, and conducting experiments. The Technical Project Manager will also oversee inventory management, equipment preparation and maintenance, and provide hands-on assistance with experiments.
In addition to technical duties, this role requires close collaboration with the non-technical project manager and other team members to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. This includes gathering and compiling data, maintaining experiment records, creating presentations, and summarizing findings for progress reports. The Technical Project Manager will also support staff with experimental and data-related tasks while facilitating communication between research labs and the leadership team.
Core Responsibilities :
- Working with PhD students and postdocs on equipment and systems related to the project, including 3D printing, construction of a cellular compartment, design, construction, and building of related experimental systems, and conducting experiments.
- Working closely with (non-technical) Project Manager and others in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including collecting information and data from other project tasks, compiling project report documents, putting together presentations, maintaining records from experiments, and assembling data summaries for progress reports and presentations, including preparing graphs and collecting and compiling required technical information.
- Supporting all staff for experimental and data tasks and helping unify communications between the research labs and the leadership team, including the project manager.
- Inventory management, preparing and maintaining equipment and assisting with experiments.
- Other duties as assigned.
