What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drama Teacher position at Carney, Sandoe & Associates?
Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment organization, is currently seeking a Drama Teacher for an independent school in the Boston area.
Responsibilities:
- Design and evaluate technical theater curriculum and teach theater design classes to students in grades 6-12, or otherwise assigned
- Direct all aspects of technical theater as they relate to school productions and events
- Train, direct, and supervise stage crews and technical theater-based extracurricular groups
- Oversee, complete, and coordinate production design elements including but not limited to scenery, lighting, projection, sound, set, and scenery for performing arts productions
- Ensure the safe and smooth operation of the performing arts spaces
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, master’s degree preferred
- Theatrical design experience is required
- Experience working with students in grades 6-12 and familiarity and comfort with working with elementary age students
- Extensive knowledge of technical theater, theater equipment, and best practices
- Extensive knowledge of electrical distribution and safe practices
- Set construction experience
- Interest to contribute to school community outside of the classroom as an athletic coach, student advisor, student club leader, or otherwise
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
