Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking a Primary School French Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year at an independent school in Washington DC.
Candidates must be native French speakers and have French as a mother tongue.
French Teacher Responsibilities :
- Work with students who are at beginning stages of learning French language including oral, written, and listening skills.
- Willingness to teach French and work with students ranging from grades 1-5.
- Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual students.
- Recognize students who are in need of additional support based on teacher recommendations, classroom observation, and assessment results.
- Instruct students individually and in small groups to further modify curriculum to match individual learning needs of students.
- Collaborate with other foreign language educators to develop and coordinate curriculum.
- Conducting research on teaching methods, materials, and language games that can be used in class.
- Organizing feedback sessions with students and their parents if applicable.
- Administer beginning and end of year assessments for students in grades 1-5.
- Providing suggestions for further learning and scheduling intervention sessions with struggling students.
- Teaching students about French culture, which may include festivals, traditional food, and dress, and social conventions.
