Position Overview
The Machine Operator will be responsible for trimming excess lining and fabric from the sides and bottom of drapery panels using either a flat table or a vertical table.
What you'll do
- Remove drapery from the rack and clamp fabric to the rod pocket table.
- Check hem and finished length on the work ticket.
- Inspect fabric for flaws or defects.
- Cut fabric and trim off extra lining.
- Make hidden tabs using an iron and serge sewing machine.
- Clamp fabric to the vertical tabling machine.
- Enter hem and finished length from the work ticket on the control box.
- Raise the machine to the finished length.
- Inspect fabric for flaws or defects.
- Machine will cut the fabric.
- Cut and trim off extra lining.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all facility safety rules and regulations.
- Report any unsafe practices or conditions to your supervisor.
- Wear required personal protective equipment properly and report any defective PPE.
- Report all near misses, accidents, injuries, or illnesses, including Muscular Skeletal symptoms or disorders.
- Be aware of the expansion joint in the floor that runs through the drapery line and keep wheels clear of the cracks to prevent accidents.
- Be cautious of air clamps, staple guns, and other machinery to avoid injuries.
- Ensure all machines are turned off before replacing needles or leaving the workstation.
- Be aware of the Emergency Evacuation Route for your department.
- Complete various activities that may require lifting or carrying over 30 pounds in all directions.
- Occasionally move about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another.
- Frequently operate machinery and hand tools.
- Repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and / or fingers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor
