Overview
Carolina Asphalt is seeking a Safety Manager to ensure all employees are in a safe environment by continuously implementing, evaluating, and monitoring health and safety protocols. The Safety Manager also develops and implements strategies to control risks in the work place and assures that the company complies with workplace safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and ensure safe equipment operating techniques
- Plan, lead, and participate in job site safety meetings.
- Review and update all site-specific safety plans with the appropriate teams.
- Implement, inspect, and maintain job site and company materials.
- Trains employees in various safety procedures according to the company safety plan.
- Conduct periodic safety inspections on all job sites to ensure safety procedures are in place.
- Record and compile data, update logs, monitor equipment and maintenance.
- Perform and oversee the investigation of accidents, injuries and unsafe working conditions including interfacing with worker’s compensation claims.
- Communicate with injured workers and plan return to work strategies.
- Work with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety.
- Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes.
- Conduct accident prevention training and health and safety training.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- 2 years’ experience in safety and health program management
- 2 years’ experience in construction safety.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA, local safety laws, and other regulatory agencies.
- Sound/ ethical judgement, strong leadership skills and ability to work independently.
- Proficient in MS office
- CPR/First Aid Certified
- 30 Hour OSHA Certified
- Experience working with commercial construction projects
