Job Summary:
The Swimming Pool Manager is responsible for safely operating and maintaining order of the swimming pool and its area at all times. Primary responsibility is to plan, organize and safely lead members and their families through swimming classes, teaching swimming skills to participants of various ages, as well as performing the essential duties and responsibilities of a lifeguard. Will assure the safety of all pool participants for both members and guests. Will provide excellent services in a professional, respectful and friendly manner at all times. Will serve as a positive role model and is responsible to know, observe and enforce the Clubs safety & security policies and guidelines. Job Functions include:
- Ensures a safe environment for all members and guests.
- Assists in pool opening and closing at the beginning and end of season.
- Operates pool and surrounding areas in compliance with OSHA requirements; maintains all necessary MSDSs.
- Provides independent or group swimming lessons to members and/or their family.
- Coaches swim and dive teams.
- Proactively prevents drownings by scanning the pool at all times and maintains safety standards by standing on deck, patrolling, or sitting in an elevated lifeguard chairs. Attempts to save drowning victims by administering first aid and/or CPR and following emergency procedures.
- Communicates with other Lifeguards, Instructors, and Management on any potential concerns related to the operation of the pool
- Hires, trains, supervise and evaluate pool staff.
- Formulates weekly work schedules and rotation schedules for all pool employees.
- Purchases pool chemicals.
- Knows and enforces emergency procedures and safety regulations in order ensure member safety.
- Keep and maintains of all necessary records concerning pool attendance, pool chemicals, accident reports, problem-member reports (recommends disciplinary measures of disorderly individuals), lifeguard and instructor schedules, etc.
- Maintains proper chemical balance in pools and maintains mechanical equipment in coordination with the clubs maintenance department.
- Registers members at pool and charges for all guests, lessons, etc.
- Provides necessary orientation and training for pool staff.
- Enforces club rules of safety and conduct.
- Plans and directs special events.
- Arranges a program of and schedule for private and group swim and diving lessons.
- Develops an annual operating and staffing budget to be approved by the Wellness Director; takes corrective actions as necessary to assure that budget goals are attained.
- Maintains and keeps all necessary records concerning pool attendance, pool chemicals, accident reports, problem-member reports (recommends disciplinary measures of disorderly individuals), lifeguard and instructor schedules, etc.
- Develops and implements pool safety program.
- Interacts with outside contractors to maintain and upgrade pool areas.
- Provides aquatics-related information for club newsletter.
- Manages pool area lost and found articles.
- Manages pool area, including lockers and changing rooms for cleanliness.
- Maintains presence during special pool events.
- Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Wellness Director or Youth Director.
- Works on special projects as assigned.
- Performs miscellaneous office responsibilities if needed.
- Implements team work and attends departmental staff meetings as scheduled.
- Completes required computer based training courses within the required time frame.
- Is responsible for knowing CCC Employee Policies and working by the CCC Mission Statement.

- Certification in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguarding is required.
- Two years of lifeguarding is required.
- Swim lesson instruction experience or willingness to be trained
- Must have a passion and ability to responsibly work with young children with safety and security as the most important dynamic.
- Must be flexible, enthusiastic, patient, friendly and understanding.
- Capable of lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
- Capable of standing and maneuvering independently and safely around work areas with the ability to setup youth rooms with large equipment and furniture.
- Ability to see and hear, or to use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that job duties can be performed successfully.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must have the ability to get along well with others and demonstrate a high level of sensitivity and interest in people and children.
