What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Technician position at Carolina Foods LLC?
BASIC FUNCTION: Provides ownership of assigned equipment as an operator, maintenance technician, and continuous improvement champion of automated manufacturing equipment.
- Schedule: Monday - Friday
- Hours : 6pm - 6am
- Expected : 40-60 hours per week
- Pay Range: $22-25/hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and adjust automated and manual packaging equipment to meet daily production targets.
- Inspect packaging materials and finished products to ensure they meet quality and food safety standards.
- Perform regular equipment changeovers, cleanings, and basic troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate production and downtime records, including batch numbers and lot tracking.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Work collaboratively with maintenance, quality assurance, and other production staff to resolve issues.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks and escalate technical issues as needed.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of packaging area to maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, SQF, etc.).
Qualifications:
- Applicants will be required to sit for the Ramsay Mechanical assessment before interviewing
- Previous experience in an automated manufacturing facility utilizing TPM, AM, or similar CI principles. Experience with Schubert Systems.
- 2 years of experience in an automated manufacturing facility with a well-developed TPM or AM program.
- Previous experience as a member of a maintenance team.
- A vocational or associate degree in a manufacturing or related technical field.
- Experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
