What are the responsibilities and job description for the CONTRACT ATTORNEY position at CAROLINA LEGAL ASSOCIATES?
We are searching for an experienced litigation associate who wants to work on a full-time contract basis. This position is for an insurance defense firm that handles litigation for businesses throughout South Carolina. Clients are often retail businesses defending premises liability, false arrest claims, employee claims, or other customer claims. This position will be ongoing and could lead to a permanent position if desired.
Example Job Responsibilities :
- Initial factual investigation, including site visits, interviewing witnesses, and taking depositions
- Drafting and filing of litigation documents to include pleadings, discovery requests, discovery responses, demands, motions, and memorandum
- Completing all phases of discovery
- Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in the litigation
- Interaction with expert witnesses to include conferences, drafting of expert reports, accident reconstruction, and affidavits
- Attendance and preparation for depositions, mediations, hearings, and court appearances
- Preparing written assessments
- Drafting and arguing motions
- Preparing for and trying cases to completion
