What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Paralegal position at CAROLINA LEGAL ASSOCIATES?
We are searching for a litigation paralegal for a plaintiff's firm in Myrtle Beach, SC. The ideal Litigation Paralegal candidate will assist attorneys in all stages of the litigation process from maintaining case documents/databases, discovery work, drafting and answering interrogatories, requests for production, and requests to admit. Must be comfortable with state and federal e-filing and be able to assist in all aspects of case management. Candidates must have strong communication skills to communicate with both clients and attorneys.
Sample responsibilities:
- Preparation and service of Pleadings
- Maintaining case documents/databases
- Reviewing case documents and preparing case chronologies
- Preparing the first draft of discovery including drafting and answering interrogatories, requests for production, and requests to admit
- Drafting and serving subpoenas
- Legal Document preparation and drafting including pleadings, motions, trial documents, etc.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and SC Civil Procedure requirements
- Must be comfortable with state and federal e-filing
Minimum requirements and other qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Paralegal Studies or Paralegal Certificate
- 2-3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal at a law firm
- Great customer service skills, both in-person and over the phone
- Strong personal work ethic and ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet critical deadlines with minimal supervision
- Excellent writing, editing, and proof-reading skills, with the ability to be detail-oriented
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to multitask and prioritize caseload and daily tasks
- Ability to work overtime
