BACKGROUND:
Carolina Legal Staffing is looking for a Corporate Paralegal to join a humanitarian organization whose mission is to rapidly respond to disasters in collaboration with at-risk communities and support them to prepare for future disasters.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Reporting to General Counsel, the Paralegal provides support primarily to contract drafting and review, contract database and file maintenance, corporate registrations, research, and special projects. This position also provides transaction support related to international and domestic operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare routine documents, agreements, and instruments, such as confidentiality, consulting, purchase and sale contracts, and insurance certificates;
- Furnish assistance in contract and granting transactions, including due diligence, review and preparation of schedules;
- Implement and maintain contract database (CLM system);
- Assist in policy drafting and implementation, including tracking and archiving of policy versions;
- Spearhead document retention practices and support staff efforts;
- Conduct research and resolve routine law questions under the guidance of General Counsel;
- Review documents and transmit information and documents to outside counsel and staff with minimal guidance from the General Counsel;
- Review, code, and process legal bills from outside counsel; develop and implement reports for monitoring outside legal spending;
- Manage special projects outsourced to consultants or outside counsel;
- Promote good stewardship of financial and other resources to achieve maximum benefit to those impacted by disaster or at risk of impact; and
- Undertake other ad hoc projects under supervision of the General Counsel and perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Experience:
- Five (5) years of experience as a paralegal or legal support professional;
- Two (2) years of international experience working for nonprofit organizations is preferred; and
- Experience working with organizations in the Caribbean and Latin America, preferred.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in… or relevant field; or
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Professional Licenses/Certifications:
Paralegal Certificate is desired.
Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
