What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Counselor position at Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associates?
We are searching for c ompassionate and energetic individuals to join our team! We are seeking a Full-Time Financial Counselor. The position will be located in our mid-town Charlotte office. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of healthcare billing or financial counselor experience. Must have the ability to multi-task and have a high degree of confidentiality, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Identifies delinquent accounts and contacts patients regarding payment arrangements prior to their scheduled appointment. Maintains communication with front desk for collection efforts.
- Communicates over the phone and in-person with patients to discuss payment policy, payment plans and accepts payments. Evaluates patient's financial status and establishes a budget payment plan within our policies as necessary.
- Prepares patient correspondence in accordance with our policies.
- Utilizes various internal reports to monitor patient account activity, takes appropriate action based on these reports and maintains communication with the affected internal and external parties.
- Processes, posts, and balances patient payments daily.
- Responds to inquiries from attorneys and patients.
- Identifies, researches, and resolves patient billing complaints / issues.
- Serves as a back-up to front desk for patient check-in as needed.
- Supports the A / R team as needed to complete assignments.
- Complies with all our processes and HIPAA regulations.
- Applies our values in decision-making and interactions with all individuals.
- Promotes a positive work environment through effective teamwork.
- Other duties as assigned by changing needs, patient flow, or physician request.
