Carolina Precision Technologies (CPT) is a leading, world-class manufacturer of complex, high precision medical devices and aerospace solutions. The Swiss Department Lead is a front-line leader responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production Swiss machining department, ensuring efficient production, maintaining quality standards and coordinating with other departments to achieve production goals all while prioritizing safety and continuous improvement initiatives within the Swiss machining process.
Responsibilities Include but not limited to :
- Works closely with the Production Control Manager to schedule work for machines and delegates tasks while monitoring progress.
- Continually trains, mentors, coaches and develops the Swiss team.
- Writes and optimizes CNC programs (Part Maker Mastercam) and selects the appropriate tooling and machine for each job. Tests programs and makes necessary adjustments to ensure efficiency and quality.
- Troubleshoots and solves problems related to machining applications, machining tool paths and machine operation.
- Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
- Checks labor tickets and work orders for completeness and accuracy.
- Reviews new parts to determine suitability and quotes cycle times
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Analyzes production problems, determines root cause and implements corrective / preventive actions.
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating preventive maintenance and repair services following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures. Repairs machines when possible.
- Proactively leads and support continuous improvement activities
- Maintains inventory levels of raw materials, tooling, and supplies, and coordinates with purchasing department for replenishment.
- Set up and operate machines as needed.
