Job Description:
Carolina School of Massage is seeking a candidates who exhibit an understanding and commitment to the school and who has a passion for commitment to student success.
The position encompasses the following professional responsibilities and competencies: Qualified candidates must enjoy a learning environment and have a passion to share their industry knowledge with newly training massage therapists.
The Instructor is entrusted with imparting the knowledge and skills each student needs to be successful by providing quality delivery of assigned courses while ensuring that all students achieve competency in the course objectives.
Instructors are to be motivating, fair, impartial, creative, dedicated, and professional.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR INSTRUCTORS
- Educational and/or instructional preparation in Massage Therapy preferred.
- Minimum two years as a licensed therapist with a current LMT credential from the State of South Carolina required.
- Demonstrate an ability to adapt to the learning styles and needs of diverse student populations who have not been exposed to a wide range of academic courses.
- Demonstrate an ability to use a variety of teaching strategies and technologies that encourage retention while successfully challenging diverse student populations.
- Show evidence of desire and ability to take on leadership roles within the school.
- Show evidence of an ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Show evidence of understanding and/or experience developing student assessments.
- Teaching experience desirable but not required.
INSTRUCTOR EXPECTATIONS
- Commitment to the mission and objectives of Carolina School of Massage.
- Ability to create a dynamic learning environment that values instructor/student interaction.
- Ability to effectively engage with and facilitate authentic learning for students of diverse backgrounds, cultures, ages, and experiences.
- Coordinate with the Anatomy instructor concerning muscle identification and palpation.
- Follow the Massage Therapy syllabus as provided by the administration.
- Provide periodic massage practice questions to students for the MBLEX.
- Keep detailed grade sheets and submit a final average to the administration upon completion of the course.
- Provide hands-on instruction in massage techniques.
- Supervise all student-student massage trade interactions.
- Facilitate clinicals as needed by the administration.
- When supervising clinicals, make frequent observations of students and adjust as needed.
Experience:
-At least 2 years teaching experience preferred
- 2 years as a licensed massage therapist required
- Current LMT credential from the State of South Carolina required.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: Up to $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
