What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk and Medical Office Assistant - must travel position at Carolina Sinus Center?
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Welcomes Patients and visitors in person or over the phone.
- Check patients in and out of office and collect vital patient information.
- Scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording and updating personal and financial information.
- Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient charges; collecting copay, co-insurance, deductibles and past due amounts
- Answers inquiries by phone and in person in a helpful, accurate and efficient manner.
- Maintains appointment schedule and manages recalls
- Maintains electronic medical record, including the patient chart. Performs tasks (including linking, uploading, and referrals) in support of patient care.
- Ensures the waiting room, front desk areas are clean and orderly.
- Assists providers when requested.
- Assists with answering phone calls, faxes and referrals.
- Performs patient chart prep by obtaining test results and ensuring they are in the patient record
- Performs all other related clinical, administrative tasks or special tasks as required.
- Assist in other locations if needed
- Cross train to Coordinates patient care through the clinic: checking in, prepping, escorting to exam rooms, preparing exam or treatment rooms, answering questions, providing post-appointment service, monitoring the waiting room.
- Maintains electronic medical record, including the patient chart. Performs tasks (including linking, uploading, and referrals) in support of patient care.
- Ensures exam rooms are stocked appropriately and ensures that they are ready for next patient
- Ensures patient confidentiality by honoring the HIPAA Privacy Standards and OSHA standards
- Cleans and sterilizes materials and instruments.
- Performs patient prep procedures and documents findings in the patient record
- Performs all other related clinical, administrative tasks or special tasks as required.
- Provides patient care with a customer service lens.
- Works and learns the audio department and able to perform audiology testing
- Works and learns the allergy department and is able to perform allergy testing and give shots
- Works and learns in office surgeries such as sinus dilation.
- Scribe office notes for provider
Job Requirements:
General Skills and Abilities:
- EMR skills/Eclinicals a plus
- Attention to Detail
- Must know how to type
- Works well in a team environment
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency on a computer
- Speed and accuracy
- Travel to Gaffney majority of week and be able to assist in Rock Hill or Pineville when needed.
Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to give excellent customer service
- Must be able to accurately make appointments and type messages for clinical staff
- Must be able to obtain necessary paperwork for office visit
- Must be able to collect patient responsibility that is due
- Must understand the importance of HIPAA and OSHA standards
- Willing to work in clinic and be cross trained
Previous front desk work is a plus. Willing to train the right person for the position.
