What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underground Utilities Estimator position at Carolina Utilities Company, LLC?
Carolina Utilities is looking for a qualified Underground Utilities Estimator to join their team. The position requires experience in estimating with a construction background or extensive experience in underground utilities. This individual must be punctual, accountable, and a problem solver. Must have experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with sufficient computer skills. Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to analyze, organize and document critical information.
The Estimator will be responsible for the development and implementation of the estimating department systems and procedures.
- Identify and solicit projects to bid within the company’s core markets.
- Create and manage standardized estimating systems and procedures.
- Review cost estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare risk assessment analysis through the evaluation of contract documents and geotechnical reports. * Identify value engineering alternative proposals.
- Communicate information on successful bids to those responsible for constructing the projects throughout the duration of the project.
- Hand off information on successful bids to those responsible for constructing the projects.
- Actively participate in industry, client, and community relations to enhance company image.
- Contribute to business development efforts to identify future clients and projects.
- Strive to build effective relationships with clients, architects, engineers, specialty contractors and suppliers.
Qualifications
- Experienced in preparing governmental and private marketplace cost proposals.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or Building Science preferred but not required.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in civil construction.
- Prior experience in an estimating team environment.
- Proficient mathematical and computer skills.
- Must be highly motivated, organized, and possess a strong positive worth ethic.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Estimating experience. You must have relevant underground utility estimating expertise. We expect you to know the ins and outs of estimating water, wastewater, or stormwater projects from start to finish.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
