PLR Talent Forward provides HR and talent sourcing services to credit unions in North and South Carolinas. We are excited to partner with SAFE Federal Credit Union to assist with the identification of candidates for the position of Vice President (VP) of Risk & Compliance.

The Vice President of Risk & Compliance will play a key role in the credit union’s success by leading its regulatory compliance efforts, managing risk exposure, and overseeing internal audits and quality assurance.
What you’ll do:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws including UDAAP, BSA, OFAC, and Regulation E.
- Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and internal departments.
- Interpret and communicate regulatory guidance, update policies, and recommend internal process improvements.
- Lead the Compliance Monitoring Program and conduct annual audits.
- Oversee the POA program, marketing compliance, product/service disclosure updates, and consumer complaint tracking.
- Develop and maintain the Compliance Management System and Records Retention Program.
- Supervise and develop a team of compliance professionals and coordinate internal compliance training for all levels of staff and leadership.
- Support enterprise risk assessments and provide strategic risk analysis and reports to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
To Qualify for this position, You’ll Have:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 10 years of compliance experience, with 7 years in risk management, and 5 years in a credit union or financial industry setting.
- Familiarity with Reg Z, Truth in Savings Act, and Card Act.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Experience developing and implementing compliance programs.
- Certification as NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO), CUNA Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE), or Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Specialist (BSACS) preferred or to be obtained within 1 year of hire.
