Carolinas Geotechnical Group, PLLC (CG2) has an opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. The position will be focused primarily on the NCDOT and SCDOT Transportation market but will be looking for a candidate to help us grow into other markets as well. The position is available in our sole Charlotte, NC office but we offer the ability to work remotely.
CG2's Geotechnical Engineering Services Include:
- Subsurface investigations
- Laboratory testing
- Seismic analyses
- Embankment settlement and stability analyses
- Reinforced earth structure analyses and design
- Foundation analyses and design
- Ground improvement analyses and design
- Report preparation
Responsibilities:
- The candidate will be involved in all phases of a project including business development, proposal preparation, managing and/or performing field engineering, engineering analysis, report writing, consultation, invoice preparation, client contact and correspondence.
- Provide oversight in the planning and execution of field exploration and laboratory testing programs.
- Perform engineering analyses, geotechnical design, and write technical reports.
- Technical analysis and reporting.
- Providing consultation/evaluation for field-related concerns
- Client interaction and performing project management duties
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Master's Degree preferred
- Master’s Degree with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering preferred
- NC PE preferred
- 5-10 years of relevant geotechnical experience
- Experience with NCDOT and/or SCDOT preferred
- Displays strong technical skills in soil mechanics and geotechnical analyses and design
- Display experience with soft ground and high seismic geology
- Must possess intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office and relevant technical software required, gINT and MicroStation are preferred), including the ability to learn various types of company/client software
- Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
