Operator 3rd shift

Job Purpose : The Ingredient Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of ingredients in the manufacture of food products, specifically peanut butter, ensuring food quality and safety.

This position requires collaboration with the Production Supervisor, Quality Assurance Department, and other team members.

The operator monitors the correct use of formulas, proper ingredient feed rates, and peanut flow, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the facility.

Extensive training is provided for various aspects of the job.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Arrive 10 minutes early to ensure a proper shift handover with the previous operator.
• Verify with the Production Supervisor or Team Lead that the correct peanuts are being used and ensure proper communication with management.
• Confirm which production formula is being used.
• Clean and sanitize the mill hopper before starting the shift.
• Maintain a consistent flow of peanuts from storage bins to the jar filler or bulk station.
• Understand the entire process flow, from peanuts entering the primary bin to packaging.
• Ensure ingredient bags are vacuumed for dust before emptying into bins.
• Run the hot oil flush system for sanitation and product cleanout.
• Follow re-work protocols and complete necessary paperwork for traceability.
• Record lot numbers of each ingredient used during production.
• Log any downtime, explaining the reason and duration on downtime report sheets.
• Follow the FIFO (First In, First Out) method for ingredient usage.
• Keep track of ingredient levels and rates, recording them on the Ingredient Feed Rate Form and submitting paperwork to management.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work area by sweeping, mopping, and emptying trash.
• Assist fellow employees in other areas when necessary.
• Complete reports and forms assigned by management.

Skills and Competencies :

• GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) training.
• Inventory control and stock rotation knowledge.
• Proficiency in basic math and computer skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Measures for Success :

• 98% accuracy in fulfilling orders.
• Achieving daily production goals : 9500 lbs / hour on Line 1 and 5000 lbs / hour on Line 2.
• Maintaining less than 15% downtime on Line 1 and 20% downtime on Line 2.
• Upholding daily sanitation standards and a clean workspace.

Quality Assurance :

• Adhere to all GMP and Quality policies.
• Identify and report non-conforming products to reduce waste.
• Collaborate daily with the Quality team to meet customer specifications.

Additional Sanitation Responsibilities :

Education and Experience :

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• 1-3 years of experience in production manufacturing, preferably in food production.
• Familiarity with food manufacturing principles.

Work Environment :

Manufacturing and plant environment, with exposure to industrial equipment and forklifts.

Physical Demands :

• Frequent climbing of ladders and stairs, and standing for extended periods.
• Intermediate lifting up to 55 lbs for up to 4 hours.
• Bending, stooping, crouching, and reaching as required.

Schedule :

• 3rd 11pm to 7am
• 8-hour shifts, with evening, night, and weekend availability.
• Compensation :
• Starting at $14.50 per hour (DOE).
