JOB SUMMARY: Cafeteria Manager I personnel are responsible for the operation of the food & nutrition programs in a self-prep school. The manager works under the authority and direction of the school Principal and the Coordinator of Food Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Has graduated from high school and has a minimum of three (3) years of successful food service experience.
- Has or must obtain the National Restaurant Association Applied Food Service Sanitation Certification.
- Has or must obtain manager's certification through the American School Food Service Association.
- Ability or willingness to learn to operate a personal computer including point-of-sale, inventory, and financial accountability software.
- Demonstrates knowledge of institutional/commercial food service management, methods, procedures and equipment.
- Understands the nutritional requirements for children, the use of standardized recipes, healthful methods of quantity food preparation, and purchasing procedures.
- Able to lift 50 pounds on a recurring basis.
- Has good interpersonal communication skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manages all food & nutrition programs in assigned schools in accordance with the rules and regulations of federal, State, and local regulatory agencies.
- Receives, stores, handles, prepares and serves food according to established standards.
- Assures that sanitation and safety practices meet established standards in all phases of the operation of the food and nutrition programs in the school.
- Orders approved foods and supplies in the quantities needed.
- Maintains and submits accurate financial, participation, inventory, and other required reports and records.
- Accountable for the financial position of the food & nutrition programs in the school.
- Implements effective merchandising and nutrition education activities.
- Plans and assigns work by means of written duty outlines and work schedules to ensure efficient use of labor.
- Encourages teamwork.
- Trains, supervises, and evaluates food and nutrition staff assigned to the school according to established procedures.
- Provides a safe and pleasant work environment.
- Promotes good public relations with the school community.
- Seeks out and participates in professional growth opportunities.
- Maintains regular, on-time attendance.
- Reacts to change productively and performs other duties as assigned.

PAY & HOURS: This position is a 10 month position with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Caroline County Board of Education, Support Services Personnel Salary Schedule. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge, experience, skills and training related to this position.
Salary : $18 - $29
