JOB SUMMARY: This position of Special Education Coordinator is responsible for administering and coordinating Special Education programs and providing educational leadership for the students and staff consistent with the educational goals of Caroline County Public Schools.
QUALIFICATIONS/ COMPETENCIES:
- A master’s degree in appropriate field with an emphasis in supervision, educational administration and/or related service area
- A minimum of three (5) years of satisfactory experience; Special Education teacher preferred
- Eligibility for Maryland State Certification for Administrator I
- Demonstrated experience and effectiveness with special education programs
- Demonstrated evidence of leadership ability
- Possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Possess strong computer skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in the development of a systemic special education program that includes vision, philosophy, goals and objective, duties and responsibilities and performance measures.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations.
- Ensures IEPS are developed, implemented and evaluated to ensure students with disabilities are received the appropriate education.
- Ensures that specially designed instruction is developed, implemented and evaluated.
- Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of special education grants.
- Participates in all special education audits.
- Completes formal and informal observations on special education staff.
- Develops training materials and resources to enhance the function of the special education program.
- Develops, collects, and analyzes data that reflects the implementation and application of programs and services. Maintains records and develops reports as needed.
- Works collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and the Supervisor of Special Education to coordinate the special education program.
- Works collaboratively with the leadership team to review and update local special education services policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures as needed.
- Plans for and allocates resources needed to implement the special education services.
- Monitors program effectiveness by gathering, manipulating, and analyzing data.
- Performs related duties and other tasks as assigned.

PAY & HOURS: This position is a 12-month position with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Caroline County Board of Education, Administrators & Supervisors Salary Scale. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge, experience, skills and abilities related to this position.
Salary : $81,628 - $120,601
