Carpenter Co has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Specialist at our Lakeland, Florida manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations and functions within the Human Resources department including full-cycle recruiting, record keeping, and payroll processing.
Your additional responsibilities as a Human Resources Specialist will include:
- Posting recruitment ads, screening candidates, interviewing, and completing the pre-employment process for all hourly positions.
- Administering pre-employment drug screens, background checks, and conducting new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
- Accurate Record keeping for new hires, terminations, and tracking performance reviews.
- Assisting management in appropriate resolution of employee relation issues.
- Maintaining knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensuring policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
- Supports Division HR Manager in all facets of human resources administration to include recruiting, on-boarding, training, benefits, payroll, leave administration and employee relations.
- Administering benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, vacation, sick leave, FMLA, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
Skills/ Requirements
- High school diploma required, Associates degree preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish strongly desired. Ability to read, write, and speak in Spanish fluently.
- Prior human resources experience, some labor law knowledge preferred
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Proficient in Excel and Word
- Keen attention to detail
- Working knowledge of state and federal labor laws
- Customer service oriented with a team player attitude to help with additional duties within the company, as needed
- Well organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work appropriately
- SAP/UKG/Kronos experience desired.
