SUMMARY: Maintenance technician is responsible for maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment and the upkeep of the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and monitor production equipment to ensure safe operating conditions using preventive and predictive maintenance methods.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment breakdowns.
- Assist in installation of new production equipment.
- Improve equipment operation and workflow for improved safety, scrap and productivity.
- Perform tool setups / mold changes and production sampling as needed to assist production.
- Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Minimum of 3 years of hands-on technical maintenance experience in a manufacturing / production facility. Foam and/or plastics experience preferred.
- Experience in the assembly/installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of pneumatic, hydraulic and power transfer systems is essential.
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards and Lock Out / Tag Out / Try Out are a must.
- Basic Electrical Troubleshooting, Installation and Repair Skills are required – PLC and Robotic Troubleshooting/Programming Skills are not required but are desired.
- Experience in the repair and installation of motors, pumps, filters, air compressors, chillers.
- Demonstrable Mechanical Aptitude; Pipe Fitting, Sheet Metal Fabrication and Welding
- Computer Literate; Fluent in the use of Machine Control Interfaces (HMI / Touch Screens)
- Competent in the use of a PC for data entry, communications (email) and equipment manuals/research
- Experience with Krauss Maffei, Henneke, and/or Desma machinery preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; experience completing documentation in a manufacturing environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Mathematically inclined – The ability to add, subtract and decimal calculations to meet measurement specifications
REASONING ABILITY Ability to interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic and non-toxic materials. The employee must wear the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) while working in their environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
