Carpenter Co. has one immediate opening for a Production Worker on 2nd shift [2:00pm - 10:00pm] at our Elkhart, Indiana foam manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for efficient and safe transporting of unfinished and/or finished product or material by use of equipment, machines, computers and paperwork. The hourly pay rate for this position is $23.18 to $24.07 per hour. There is also an additional shift premium of $2.00 per hour for working hours.
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to communicate both verbally and written with the department operators and production personnel involving the need to transport supplies and finished product(s) to and from department on request. Maintain a well organized storage area that is safely stacked and properly labeled to achieve the necessary results to meet production and shipping schedules.
Additional responsibilities of the Production Worker will include:
- Operate a forklift to pick up, move, or unload material in support of Fiber Operations, as necessary, from production area and the loading docks.
- Pull raw/finished operations from inventory/stock area and load to bale opener machines.
- Properly label all fiber finished material for future use.
- Operator a forklift in confined areas where other forklifts are operating and where employees are walking and working.
- Follow the Fiber department layout plan for proper storage locations.
- Able to read and completely understand the labeling process.
- Perform housekeeping on equipment and surrounding work area.
- Perform weekly/monthly inventory, as required.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret a tape measure required.
- Basic reading, writing and math skills.
- Basic computer experience is required and SAP is preferred.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and written.

2nd Shift Hours: Typically 2pm- 10pm must be able to train on a split shift or on 1st shift for at least 4 weeks months. Some overtime may be required as production demands.
