Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Outreach and Admissions/Career Transition Specialist Director to join our team at the Sacramento Job Corps Center. This OA/CTS Director Manages the overall outreach/admissions and placement contract for the greater Sacramento region. Directs the recruitment of eligible young adults (16-24) for the Job Corps program. Ensures that outreach, recruitment, commitment, placement and other established goals per the Department of Labor contract are met. As well as demonstrates an ongoing commitment to prepare young people for the workforce by monitoring, mentoring, and modeling excellence in the Career Success Standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages the recruitment, outreach activities, and interviewing of young adults for the Job Corps program.
- Ensures that assigned centers maintain 100% OBS with eligible and committed applicants.
- Assists with providing components associated with contract performance to the corporate office.
- Manages the determination of applicants’ eligibility to participate in Job Corps based on eligibility guidelines established by the Department of Labor.
- Ensures each applicant is provided with realistic and accurate information regarding the Job Corps program including the enrollment process, life on center, behavioral expectations, career technical training offerings, services, disability and reasonable accommodations, equal employment opportunity, and program requirements.
- Coordinates positive working relationships with Workforce Development partners, schools, and community organizations to promote the Job Corps program and to develop referral sources of eligible youth who could benefit from participation in Job Corps.
- Conducts interviews for prospective new employees, conducts initial staff training, conducts performance evaluations. Ensures that all staff meet monthly goals.
- Participates in community outreach activities for positive promotion of and recruitment for the Job Corps program.
- Works with center Records and Career Preparation staff to assign and onboard new students to the program. And with center staff and follows up on enrolled students to support retention and student success in the program.
- Attends Corporate and Regional calls as required by the Center Director.
- Additional administration responsibilities including:
- Audits and ensures quality assurance of all applicable documentation. Ensures that all required documentation on new applicants is obtained and maintained.
- Creates and maintains an Outreach calendar including all events and activities attended to recruit new students into the program.
- Scheduling and overseeing weekly tours
- Maintaining Jobs Bank for all job development efforts
- Maintaining all assigned property and conducts regular property inventories as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree and Two years in recruitment or job development/placement, or related field, one of which was in a lead or supervisory capacity.
Preferred: Experience working with disadvantaged youth is highly desirable. Master’s Degree.
Knowledge Required: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Excellent organizational skills. Knowledge of local schools, workforce development programs, community resources, and other community-based programs. Ability to read, interpret and digest labor trend studies. Strong working knowledge of computer systems. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Must maintain a valid CPR/First Aid certificate.
