Carpenter Media Group is looking for a general assignment reporter in Harrison, Arkansas. Duties will include attending meetings, conducting interviews, expanding news-releases, and building relationships in order to write accurate articles for publication in The Harrison Daily Times. Reporters may be asked to cover a regular beat or be given special assignments as the need dictates. Writing articles for special sections and magazines will also be required.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research on assigned topics and gather accurate information
- Write and edit news articles, features, and other content for publication
- Conduct interviews with sources and gather quotes and information
- Fact-check information and ensure accuracy of content
- Proofread and edit articles for clarity, grammar, and adherence to style guidelines
- Collaborate with editors and other team members to meet deadlines
Qualifications:
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Excellent research skills and ability to gather information from various sources
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy - A journalism degree is valued but not a requirement if candidate has good writing skills and the desire to learn the profession. - Strong computer skills are necessary - Basic photography skills are a benefit.
Note: Previous experience in reporting or journalism is preferred but not required.
