Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Material Handler (Forklift Operator) on 1st shift at our Mount Airy, NC manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for moving finished and unfinished product within the production area.
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. The successful candidate will be able to communicate with department supervisor to meet daily production scheduling. Must put safety first in a normal production environment with exposure to temperature changes. Major responsibilities involve moving product to continuously supply operation line(s).
Your additional responsibilities as a Forklift Driver will include :
- Recharge forklift batteries or propane tanks, as instructed.
- Inspect forklift before operation.
- Load / unload trucks in proper sequence.
- Lockout trailers before loading and unlock once loading is complete.
- Understanding of the Carpenter Company Safe Stacking Policy and recognition of prohibited and restricted area requirements.
- Must check and load trailers per customer requirements.
- Must be able to drive a forklift in reverse transporting finished and / or unfinished product to a specific location.
- Must be able to operate a forklift in confined areas and where employees are working and walking.
- Must operate a forklift in compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications :
Shift Hours : Monday - Friday, 7 : 00am to 3 : 30pm
Pay rate : $16.52 to $16.78
