Job Summary: To pack high-quality kernel walnuts for customers as efficiently as possible, and to lead the day-to-day duties of the crew. This role ensures that production goals are met, quality standards are maintained, and work environment is safe and efficient.
Key Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Production Support:
· Coordinate pre-shift start up check and coordinate packing schedule with Supervisor.
· Monitor production schedules and adjust as necessary to meet demand and maintain smooth workflow.
· Verifies Production Yield to ensure all material/product is adequately issued to the production run.
· Assist in scheduling day-to-day work duties of team in coordination with the supervisor.
· Communicate workflow concerns to the team in a timely manner to take proactive action.
2. Team Coordination
· Effectively run the department by communicating with the Supervisor, Operations Manager, and others about department operations, employee problems, and needs.
· Communicate with the previous shift coordinator to gather all relevant information on product runs, quality/safety issues, or similar concerns to effectively run the shift.
· Conduct a visual walk-around with the previous shift coordinator during crossover to verify that equipment is running properly, and the facility is left clean and organized for the new shift.
· Observe and coach team members to ensure productivity, safety, and quality expectations are met.
· Facilitate regular tailgate meetings to keep the team informed of work developments, company information, and relevant safety trainings.
· Assist in timekeeping process for crew.
· Serve as the first point of contact for any employee issues or concerns, before elevating to the department supervisor.
· Perform team member functions when short-staffed.
3. Inventory & Documentation
· Ensures all documentation is accurately completed and entered into the system.
· Responsible for inventory, QC supplies, consumable, labels, etc.
4. Quality Control
· Implement and uphold quality control procedures to ensure product consistency and compliance with industry standards.
· Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any quality issues.
· Collaborate with the quality assurance team to resolve product quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
5. Safety
· Comply with all Company Safety Policies and Cal-OSHA regulations.
· Hold employees accountable for creating a safe work environment and following the requirements of our IIPP (Injury and Illness Prevention Program).
· Report works injuries, assist with investigations, and conduct root cause analysis.
· Submit all safety records and documentation to the Processing Supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Although this position has no direct reports, this position is responsible for indirectly overseeing the work and duties of 9 employees.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED, required. At least 2 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably in food processing, required. At least 6 months of experience leading a small crew, required.
SKILLS
· Strong understanding of production processes, quality control, and safety regulations.
· Strong verbal, and written communication and organizational skills.
· Ability to troubleshoot operational problems.
· Experience reading, understanding, and completing basic documentation.
· Ability to create a positive and productive work environment through teamwork and collaboration.
· Basic Computer Skills – Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn and use other software programs.
· Bilingual in Spanish and English, highly preferred.
· Ability to pass Forklift Certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to work Saturday, Sunday, Holidays, and other shifts or overtime, as needed.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat and/or cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
