Description
The Maintenance Helper is responsible for providing general maintenance and repair services to keep buildings and grounds in good condition. This may include performing minor plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting tasks; conducting routine and preventative maintenance; and responding to emergency maintenance requests. The purpose of a Maintenance Helper is to assist in the upkeep and maintenance of a facility. This may include small repairs, cleaning, and general upkeep. The Maintenance Helper may also be responsible for any heavy lifting, painting, and other tasks as requested by the facility manager. They will be expected to be knowledgeable about the facility's systems and equipment and provide helpful input on how to improve its operation.
Qualifications
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities
- Maintain and repair equipment as needed
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential issues
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving maintenance-related issues
- Keep records of repair and maintenance activities
- Order materials and supplies as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Mechanical aptitude
- Attention to detail
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
- Knowledge of general maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Ability to lift heavy objects.
SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE:
- Must wear all required PPE properly.
- Conduct yourself in a safe manner.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Clean assigned areas of the building or equipment as instructed by your supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration along with maintenance fluids like oil, grease, and cleaners. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud, and personal protective equipment is required (ear plugs, safety glasses, steel toe work shoes at minimum).
This position requires constant standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. Must be able to lift and/or move items over 75 pounds, with reaching, pulling, pushing.
