The Plastic Operator will be responsible for the overall operating performance of a variety of plastic injection molding machines within the facility. The operator will make sure that the machines are working safely. Following are the machines we will use in plastic: Spin Welder, Injection Machines and Material.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in an industrial / manufacturing setting, plastics industry preferred
Physical requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud, and personal protective equipment is required (ear plugs, safety glasses, steel toe work shoes at minimum).
This position requires constant standing, walking, bending, and moving from machine to machine. Must be able to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds, with reaching.
Duties:
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Lone Star Reel standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the plant.
- Follow all company and department procedures and policies.
- Report emergencies and unusual situations immediately.
- Setting up and operating machines needed to build products based on work orders and supervisor's instructions.
- Inspecting products for defects and machines for malfunctions.
- Maintain a safe and clean workspace.
- Follow established safety rules and SOP’s. (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules and the safety program.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Creating reels with quality parts and making sure you achieve production goals set on production paperwork.
- Meet production goal.
- If the parts are not correct seek Lead or Supervisor upon notice to get issue corrected. You much let the stacker know when you are getting low on material.
- Making sure the pallets are stacked correctly and properly counting as well.
- Testing parts on each pallet so that the customer gets quality parts every time we ship the product out.
- If product breaks before 1000 pounds report immediately to Lead on shift.
- Wrapping pallets and placing correct labels with time, shift, operator, date, and wrapper filled out.
- Make sure the welder operator doesn’t run out of material.
- If running low let material handler know that it needs replaced.
- Making sure spin welders have stock both flanges and tubes.
- Keep crates on hand for injection machines.
- Load and unload trailers.
- stock injection machines with material needed to make flanges.
- Make sure that the tube cutter has product when needed.
- If you have down time other duties include breaking crew out and helping where needed.
- Perform any other duties as requested by management.
