The Sustainability Program Manager will be a key member in the Sustainability team to manage the implementation of zero emissions projects and provide central coordination for low- and zero-emissions technologies. This role will partner with the company's executive and terminal leadership to help implement the company's sustainability strategy for evaluating the company's progress towards achieving decarbonization goals. This role will work cross-functionally across domestic and international terminal operations and coordinate ongoing initiatives to advance the Carrix company objectives.
- Manages projects related to sustainability and implementing low- and zero-emissions technology, working with stakeholders across the operations divisions (e.g. Conventional, Container, Cruise).
- Oversee existing and upcoming low- and zero-emissions projects, assist in the planning and conceptualization of upcoming projects, site and charging considerations, understands electrical requirements, document best practices, and share impacts and key learnings within the division and with other divisions.
- Works across leadership and key stakeholders within terminal operations on project planning for transitioning to low- and zero-emissions technologies. Coordinate with divisional, regional, and local leadership to implement Carrix's ESG strategy into operations.
- Coordinates with external consulting / contracted resources and port authorities to support project management, engineering, and construction.
- Works with internal and procurement teams in coordinating requests for information (RFIs), requests for proposal (RFPs), and ultimate technology and vendor selection(s).
- Reports on results and any lessons-learned from project execution and throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinates with OEMs and service providers, summarizes ongoing market / industry developments around low- and zero-emissions technologies, and leads internal teams in making technology selection(s).
- Work with sustainability team to collect data and report progress into annual emissions inventories and ESG reporting.
- Support the Sustainability team in developing, preparing, and publishing the Carrix annual Sustainability Report.
- Support the Director of Sustainability and Vice President of Sustainability to monitor, evaluate, and report on the division's progress towards its ESG objectives.
- Prepare schedules, reports, budgets, or other financial documents related to sustainability projects or initiatives.
- Provide input to internal and external communications and materials highlighting sustainability projects and events.
- Support the development and execution of sustainability trainings for internal stakeholders.
- Other duties as required.
- Strong understanding of zero emissions, electric vehicles, and associated fueling and charging systems.
- Experience in planning and deploying commercial or public electric vehicle charging projects, including familiarity with permitting and commissioning processes.
- Bachelors' degree in business administration, engineering, or sciences, or similar. Degree in engineering or technical field preferred.
- Strong project management and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
- Experience and strong interest in supporting ESG reporting and company initiatives around sustainability.
- Strong analytical and data skills.
- Marine terminal, logistics, or transportation industry experience strongly desired.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Work Environment:
- Exposure to computer screens.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Occasional travel to our corporate offices and terminal locations.
- Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
