Job Summary:
POSITION TITLE: CUSTODIAN-ASSISTANT –SPORTS FACILITIES AND GROUNDS
POSITION GOAL: To assist in keeping the sports facilities and all school grounds in a condition, that will help create a positive environment in which the education process can be performed.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month year. Eight hours per day except on days the sports facilities or grounds are used beyond the normal end of the workday. Forty-hour workweek except for hours worked for events for the public schools, non-public schools, and rentals that are extra paid hours for that week. Salary and benefits established by the board.
EVALUATION: Performance of position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of board policy.
Qualifications:
A work record that would indicate a willingness and ability to perform the tasks of the position. Emphasis on:
1. Ability to care for and operate snow removal and mowing equipment. Knowledge of small engine care and repair is important.
2. Ability to assist with the program for seed, fertilization, and weed control for the sports facilities and all school grounds.
3. Ability to work in extremes of weather conditions.
4. Ability to lift and move heavy material.
5. Ability to keep a valid Driver's License

Job Summary:

- Assists with keeping the sports facilities clean and in good repair.
- Maintains mowing and weed control for all lawns and grass areas at the sports facilities, school buildings and grounds as scheduled by the head custodian.
- Assists with weed control with respect to all outside areas.
- Performs general cleaning tasks after events including weekends (Saturday and Sunday) at the sports facilities as assigned by the head custodian.
- Performs general cleaning tasks within district buildings if outside working conditions are not suitable.
- Assists with emergency repairs for sports facilities and grounds equipment.
- Assumes responsibility for the security of sports facilities and grounds.
- Assists with ice and/or snow removal at all school building locations and sites.
- Follows safe working practices. Encourages those he/she works with to follow safe working practices.
- Is positive in working with other district employees and the public he/she comes in contact with during his/her custodial schedule.
- Does not use any tobacco/nicotine or vaping products on school property or in school vehicles. Supports the board’s policy to have a tobacco/nicotine and vaping free environment and communicates this to all staff and visitors using school property and vehicles.
- Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the head custodian, Superintendent, or Director of Buildings and Grounds.
