What are the responsibilities and job description for the Developmental Specialist position at Carroll County Board of Developmental Disabilities?
Coordinate assessment/evaluation of infants and toddlers referred for Early Intervention services. Coordinate E.I. services to be provided through Carroll Co. Board of DD to children and families.
Serve on multi-disciplinary team to provide input regarding child and family needs in the development and implementation of IFSP goals and objectives, transition plans, and the Evaluation Team Report when the child is preparing to move into preschool. Develop and implement activities to meet needs of each child and family as identified by the IFSP. Participate in IFSP development and reviews, including ensuring that ancillary staffs such as OT, PT and speech therapists provide information for each meeting. Lead weekly EI Teaming Meetings.
Collaborate with other Early Intervention staff to ensure family is receiving all services requested.
Assist/conduct preschool assessments as required by the Ohio Dept. of Education Office of Early Learning and Readiness.
Assist families in accessing community resources as needed. Work with community agencies in meeting needs of families. Provide ongoing communication with parents and classroom personnel. Assist families with completing required paperwork for various agencies, etc.
Plan and organize bi-annual activities for parents such as, but not limited to an information night, play group, library activities, support group, family night, etc.
Monitor results of health screenings and work with medical personnel to make appropriate referrals for follow-up and track referrals. Monitor, review, and follow all rules, regulations, and policies as outlined by the Ohio Department of Health and DD.
Collaborate with Family Children First Council and other community organizations such as area preschools and daycares to stay updated on noteworthy information.
Complete documentation of home visits, phone calls, and all other contact with family. Keep up to date records and data on child attendance and progress.
