Position Overview:
The Social Services Worker 1 position receives and responds to requests, referrals, or complaints of adult and child abuse/neglect; completes necessary documentation including reports, forms, summaries, case notes, etc.; and gathers, analyzes, and inputs data for reporting into SACWIS and ODAPS. In addition, this position supervises parent/child visits; transports or arranges transportation for customers to various appointments; maintains case files; prepares cases for court subpoenas; and assists Social Services Worker 2s with various duties.

Minimum Qualifications:
An associates’s degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred. You must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and employment reference check. You must also have a clean driving record and valid Driver’s License.
Essential Job Functions:
- Receives and responds to requests, referrals, or complaints (phone, letter, or in-person) of adult and child abuse and/or neglect.
- Refers information to supervisors and/or case workers for further action.
- Completes necessary documentation including reports, forms, summaries, case notes, etc.
- Gathers, analyzes, and inputs data for Children Services reporting through SACWIS and Adult Protective Services reporting through ODAPS.
- Ensures that data is current, and that appropriate information is received by the case worker.
- Monitors system to ensure compliance with local, State, and Federal rules and regulations.
- Prepares and distributes reports for Agency and State purposes.
- Supervises parent/child visits.
- Transports or arranges transportation for customers to various appointments.
- Assists Social Services Worker 2s with various duties to help families access needed services.
- Records accurate and complete information of case contacts in SACWIS.
- Data entry for financial assistance programs such as KPIP and PASSS.
- Maintains case files.
- Scans and uploads documents into Traverse and maintains these documents in the proper taxonomy.
- Prepares cases for court subpoenas.
- Maintains and increases knowledge and skills through attendance at meetings, conferences, training seminars, and in-service training sessions. May require overnight travel.
- Provides culturally competent service to customers, the public, and colleagues.
- Performs additional duties and assignments as required.
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
- Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, employees, co-workers, and the public.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties.
- Performs other related tasks, duties, and responsibilities as required or assigned.
