CCYMCA Camp Huckins is seeking a Director of Development that will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Development Committee Chair in the design and implementation of a comprehensive action plan to grow fundraising support for CCYMCA Camp Huckins. They will lead efforts in donor identification, cultivation and solicitation, major gifts, planned giving and annual appeals. This position leverages the skills and volunteer contributions of CCYMCA’s parents and alumni, Board of Directors, and staff to ensure fundraising, engagement, and stewardship goals are met. 


The Director of Development is a hybrid position. The position may work remotely on a day-to-day basis but must be within driving distance of CCYCMA Camp Huckins office to travel to camp multiple days each month. The Director of Development is expected to spend significant time on-site during the summer camp season.


The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, organizational, and management skills with the ability to works both independently and within a team-oriented structure. They will have strong skills in facilitating connection building and networking.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with Development Committee Chair and Executive Director in the creation of annual and multi-year philanthropy plans. Leads in the execution of this plan. Develop goals informed by CCYMCA/Huckins’ data and giving trends, and report metrics that assess productivity, effectiveness, and outcomes.
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with donors, alumni, and community members.
  • Develop and execute the annual fundraising plan, maximizing online and non-cash giving. The fundraising plan will include annual fund, major donor programs, planned giving, and special fundraising activities to strengthen donor retention and improve the donor experience.
  • Prepare reports from Bloomerang to create lists for segmented communications, analyze giving trends and data, and reporting fundraising progress to goals.
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of prospective donors on an annual basis.
  • Make direct, face-to-face solicitations to close major gifts.
  • Strategically leverages the ED’s time to steward top donors and cultivate high-level prospects by laying the groundwork for her successful interactions and conversations.
  • Responsible for the preparation and execution of all solicitation and stewardship materials to ensure they are targeted, timely and effective. Coordinate with Director of Program and People Operations (DPPO) and Communications Coordinator to support creation and execution, including two printed newsletters and annual report.
  • Attends a variety of fundraising, stewardship, community-building, and other camp events throughout the year to grow community engagement.
  • Serves as liaison to the Board Development Committees. Lead Development Committee meetings, prepare meeting material (in conjunction with CEO and Committee Chair), take meeting minutes, and provide regular reports on philanthropy goals.
  • Creates and regularly updates gift acknowledgements for various types of giving and designated gifts.
  • Develop personalized stewardship plans to ensure donors feel connected to Huckins mission and community. Thank donors as gifts are received through phone calls and personal notes in support of cultivation and stewardship goals.
  • Complete assigned tasks in Bloomerang in a timely manner and document all interactions in Bloomerang.
  • Serves as a Development budget manager, creating and actively managing department revenue and expenses.


STAFFING AND SUPERVISION

  • Supports the Database Specialist, meeting regularly to preview upcoming projects and reporting needs that support fundraising, communications, engagement, and database accuracy.


ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand and support the mission, values, and policies of CCYMCA Camp Huckins.
  • Collaborate with staff in building a culture of belonging that values diversity, equity and inclusion and where participants feel accepted as their authentic selves; building a culture where core values guide how we do our work, and staff feel valued as we deliver the Huckins Experience.
  • Collaborate with Directors to oversee camp operating policies and procedures that balance risk management, health & safety, responsible use of Huckins resources, delivery to CCYMCA Camp Huckins mission and experience, and fun.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with staff, volunteers, families, alumni, and supporters associated with CCYMCA Camp Huckins.
  • Support, attend and participate in CCYMCA Camp Huckins Board meetings.
  • Other duties as required to advance the mission of CCYMCA Camp Huckins.


COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

  • Comfortable making solicitations and in being pleasantly persistent while exhibiting sound judgement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking, negotiations and effective communication with diverse audiences.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Must be a self-starter who is able to work independently and is organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in asking for, closing, and coaching others on fundraising for annual needs and strategic campaigns, or similar sales and marketing experience.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with major individual donors, volunteers, supporters.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office suite and CRM. Bloomerang experience a plus.
  • Ability to travel to prospect and donor meetings, work weekends and evenings for board, alumni, and development events.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Huckins and its programs;
  • Experience working in Bloomerang or similar CRM;
  • Ability to spend some time living/working at Huckins during the summer season.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS


Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000
