What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Services Intern position at Carroll Electric Cooperative Corporation?
PURPOSES SPECIFIC TO THE POSITION
To learn, assist, and perform clearing of the Cooperative's rights of way.
RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to district Manager, Line Services and Vegetation Management Foreman, and Crewman as assigned.
- Directs - none, unless otherwise assigned.
- Cooperates or coordinates with all persons both within and outside the Cooperative as deemed necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES
- This position shall serve primarily as a groundman, helper, and learner. All safety sensitive functions will be limited and supervised until competency is demonstrated.
- Assists with the clearing or re-clearing of rights of way and trimming of trees.
- Work safely and comply with all rules, policies, laws, and regulations.
- Learn to operate and care for a wide variety of vehicles and equipment, as qualified and assigned.
- Properly uses and maintains right-of-way clearing tools and equipment, including but not limited to hand cutting tools, chainsaws, woodchippers, bucket trucks, and various vegetation management equipment, as qualified and assigned.
- Lift light and medium loads frequently and assist with heavy loads occasionally.
- Use stairs and ladders.
- Work in a wide variety of positions and postures including but not limited to overhead, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
- Requires willingness and ability to work in a wide variety of environmental conditions, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, snow/ice, etc.
- With training and under supervision, work aloft, including but not limited to aerial lifts, ladders, and climbing trees or poles.
- Learn to efficiently operate two-way radio equipment, mobile devices, and other technology as assigned.
- Assist in completing neat paperwork and maintain organized workspaces as assigned.
- Requires willingness and ability to work in a constant state of alertness and focus.
- Uses safety equipment as needed and practices safe working habits.
- May be assigned to assist with and learn various construction and service functions of a distribution utility.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required by the position.
