Job Description:
This position involves assisting electricians in maintaining and repairing electrical equipment and infrastructure. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist electricians with daily tasks and projects
- Clean and clear rights of way to ensure safe access for linemen
- Operate hand cutting tools, chainsaws, woodchippers, bucket trucks, and other equipment as qualified
- Climb trees for trimming along energized high-voltage powerlines as qualified
- Perform pole-top rescue and assist in outage restoration events as qualified
- Collect and report inspection data for powerlines and poles
Requirements:
- Experience operating tools and equipment is preferred, but quick learning abilities are accepted
- Must have (or be willing to obtain) a Class A commercial driver's license
- Must have (or be willing to obtain within two years) the qualifications of a line-clearance tree trimmer
- Ability to efficiently and accurately operate electronic mobile devices
- Willingness to obtain and maintain CPR Certification and learn life-saving techniques
- Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow/ice, etc.
- Willingsness to participate in on-call and call-out schedules, Emergency Response Plan, and promptly respond outside of normal working hours
- Ability to work in a wide variety of positions and postures, including aloft, overhead, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and twisting
- Constant state of alertness and focus required
