Summary
JOB SUMMARY
The Operating Room Certified Surgical Technologist (ORCST) is responsible for performing the duties of a scrub tech and assists in the operative procedure by case preparation of sterile instruments and supplies, by maintaining strict aseptic technique, by supporting the surgeon throughout the case by anticipating needs as they arise and acting accordingly by following hospital policies and guidelines supported by AORN standards of care to provide safety focused care for each patient. The ORCST has knowledge and skill in maintaining the sterile field, interacting with the surgical team to obtain and deliver necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment in an efficient and timely manner. The ORCST properly cares for instrumentation both during and after the case, including proper decontamination and proper care and return of equipment and supplies. The ORCST has the ability to observe and obtain information, understand the range of treatment needed by the patients, and report significant findings to the appropriate team members to ensure that the appropriate care is provided to each patient on an individualized basis. The ORCST reports directly to the Clinical Manager of Surgical Services. The ORCST ensures that all services are delivered in accordance with the mission statement and SPIRIT values of Carroll Hospital Center. The ORCST must obtain and submit the required CEU's to maintain certification status.
REQUIREMENTS
Required High School Diploma
Required Other Graduated from an accredited CST program
Preferred Associate's Degree
Required
Less than 2 years Minimum 2 years Surgical Tech experience required Required
CPR - AHA Healthcare Provider
CST- Certified Surgical Tech
