Position Summary :

The Instructional Technology Specialist role is a year-round position and will have two main components. The first component is to support faculty and staff as they implement new and existing technologies. In conjunction with the Director of Instructional Technology, this position is responsible for the development, management, and evaluation of academic technology services that support teaching and learning at Carroll School, as well as the creation and delivery of training content and support in live and virtual environments.

The second component of the role is as a teacher and manager of the Lower School Makerspace. The Instructional Technology Specialist will teach classes that cover concepts like coding and 3D design, and will support teachers as they use the makerspace for other subjects, such as language and math. In this role, the Instructional Technology Specialist will also work in partnership with the Director of Instructional Technology and other teachers to align the Makerspace curriculum across campuses and support teachers and students as they use the Makerspace.

Responsibilities :

  • Partner with the Director of Instructional Technology and other Makers teachers to develop and implement a scope and sequence of technology-focused curriculum across grade levels
  • Teach a Makers-themed "multi" to 4th and 5th graders during the school year that covers technology and engineering topics such as coding, 3D design, and design thinking
  • Facilitate Lower School makerspace use by other teachers, and support teachers as they bring classes in to use the space
  • Create and deliver learning content to support faculty and staff with classroom technology, in the form of instructional documents, tutorial videos, and / or live trainings
  • Provide in-person and remote support to teachers implementing new and existing technology within their classrooms
  • Respond to help-desk tickets related to technology use in the classroom
  • Model new opportunities and effective uses of technology to support learning goals
  • Help to manage rostering and program databases for student programs
  • Work with the Director of Instructional Technology to plan and budget the needs of Carroll School's Academic Technology program
  • Maintain expertise in new and emerging instructional technologies as well as teaching and learning trends in education

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field
  • Experience (and excitement about!) managing a Makerspace and / or teaching makers-related content (3D design, coding, engineering, or related topics) to students
  • Two years of teaching or training experience in IT or technology-related courses
  • Demonstrated success with collaborative curriculum building
  • Experience providing interactive professional development for teachers
  • Knowledge of current learning technologies, teaching and learning environments, and associated support
  • An ability to self-teach new and emerging learning technologies
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Familiarity with online rostering and management of programs (e.g. Classlink) is a plus
