What are the responsibilities and job description for the ICU Registered Nurse - RN Full-Time - Seasonal position at Carrollton Regional Medical Center?
The ICU Registered Nurse/RN plans and provides professional patient-centered nursing care in accordance with physician orders, established policies and procedures, Texas Board of Nursing Scope of Practice, and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures to include performing assessments, implementing and evaluating treatments, and developing and documenting nursing care plans.
2. Prepares, administers and documents medications and therapies according to established policy and procedures. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
3. RN's Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
4. Registered Nurse Participates in the formulation care plans. Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies and Reports issues or concerns to supervisor as appropriate.
5. Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities to enhance the delivery of patient care. Ensures the safety of patients.
6. RN's Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
7. Establishes interpersonal relationships and a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
8. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Knowledge and understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
2. Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations; standards and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies; hospital and department/unit standards, protocols, policies and procedures governing the provision of nursing care applicable to the area of assignment.
3. Knowledge of medical terminology; principles and practices of health promotion, risk reduction, illness and disease prevention and management; medications and drugs, common dosages, their physical and physiological effects, and possible adverse reactions.
4. Knowledge of medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
5. Skill in the use of computers and related software applications.

Minimum Requirements
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Experience
Minimum One Year RN ICU Experience Required
Certificates, Licenses and Registration
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Texas Registered Nurse License (RN)
